Platinum International Aquatic Safety Award awarded

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark announced today that it has been awarded the prestigious “Platinum International Aquatic Safety Award” by Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc. for the 2021 operating season. Earning this award designates a facility as consistently exceeding industry standards in regards to lifeguard professionalism, risk management, and aquatic safety excellence.

Jeff Ellis & Associates, Inc. (E&A) partners with clients around the world to provide comprehensive risk management for aquatic facilities, and is regarded as an industry leader when it comes to aquatic safety. E&A clients represent the finest and safest aquatic facilities in the world.

Annually, E&A presents International Aquatic Safety Awards to its highest performing facilities within their Comprehensive Aquatic Risk Management Program, based on the results of multiple random unannounced aquatic facility operational safety audits throughout the year. During these audits, auditors observe operation of the facility while undercover as guests, taking video surveillance of individual lifeguards as they monitor their zones of protection, to accurately and discretely evaluate their professional diligence. Once videoing of the lifeguards is completed, auditors reveal themselves to the facility’s management staff and evaluate individual and team basic life support and rescue skills, along with simulated emergencies that measure the effectiveness and execution of established Emergency Action Plans, including first aid scenarios, unconscious guest resuscitation, spinal injury emergencies, and more. The audit concludes with administrative, supervisory, and facility evaluations.

It is of particular note when an E&A facility is granted an International Aquatic Safety Award. Awards are presented in three levels – Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Only the top 10% of E&A clients receive the Platinum International Aquatic Safety Award. As such, these facilities are formally recognized as the best of the best in the industry.

The Kartrite recommends an at-home version of the ooey-gooey dessert, with just three ingredients and a few simple steps. “Get the kids and have them help gather six graham crackers, six fun-sized chocolate bars and/or peanut butter cups and six marshmallows,” says Head of Activities TK Kopp. “Preheat the broiler, have the kids help assemble the s’mores (without topping them with graham crackers) on the baking sheet, and place under the broiler for a few seconds until the desired level of toasting. Remove, top with remaining graham cracker and enjoy as a family!”

Hotel Desserts You Can Make at Home

S’mores

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark, Monticello, New York

Hotel’s description: “The Kartrite knows a thing or two about the art of making a perfect s’more—in 2019, the resort successfully made the world’s largest. Every night the Kartrite’s outdoor fire (pictured) invites families to cozy up in the brisk air of the Catskill Mountains and roast marshmallows. The at-home version of the ooey-gooey dessert takes just three ingredients and a few simple steps.”

Ingredients:

6 graham crackers
6 fun-size chocolate bars or peanut butter cups
6 marshmallows

Instructions:

Turn oven broiler on high.

On a baking sheet, use chocolate, marshmallows, and half of graham crackers to assemble open-faced s’mores.

Place baking sheet under the broiler for a few seconds until achieving the desired level of toasting.

Remove sheet from broiler and top s’mores with remaining graham crackers.
